10 Commandments of Home Staging:

1.  Take care of the outside: Remove all garbage & make sure that the grass,trees & bushes are nicely trimmed. You can't sell a house if the buyer can't see it!

2. Invest in Storage: Clear away any unnecessary furniture throughout the house & stash it somewhere offsite. All rooms should showcase their intended function.

3. It's not Personal: Remove all of your personal items such as family photos & any collections you may be displaying.

4. Let the Sunshine in: A well-lit home is essential. Make sure every room is well lit & replace any burnt out light bulbs. Add lamps wherever necessary.

5. Spic 'n Span Kitchens: Be sure to clear countertops to showcase useable space & take the magnets off the fridge door.

6. Showcase Closet Space: Only keep the current season of fashion wear in the closet & pack away the rest. Closets must look spacious & tidy.

7.  Beautiful Bathrooms: Clear the vanities & stash away all personal items. Coordinate towels to 1 or 2 colours only.

8. Paint Like the Swiss: Colours must be neutral.

9. Screen the Screens: Remove all unused screens from the hoe & clean the windows. This will add up to 30% more natural light to your house.

10. Invest in your Sale: Invest in a reputable staging company. When done right, you should get between 6-30% more money for your property.
